Someone cant pen you but you cant pen them? Literally ram them to death, use that fat german ass to send them to the next dimension. You draw so much attention with your assault you can sometime turn a tide of a game if you constantly keep drawing the enemies teams attention allowing your team to exploit. Your armor is tough a hell, you can soak up lots of fire without ever getting damaged if used right, you can do the same on the move, pushing forward and forcing other player(s) to retreat in some cases. You are powerful, 12.8cm long schlong that delivers bratwurst to any ♥♥♥♥♥♥ who looks at you, a secondary 7.5cm schnitzel yeeter which can spam HEAT which is decently effective and smoke to allow for ease of defense or a really good push. You bring fear to most other players as if they don't have atgms most them reverse as fast as they can if the miss their shots or can't pen you. You are fast (If you imagine that you are the only vehicle in the world) Make sure that, whatever you choose, it has a reasonable reload time, because something like a KV-2 that only fires about 2 times per minute won't be very helpful for the team. I think most of the USSR tanks at that rank should be too, but I can't remember for certain. I found rank 1 UK tanks to be surprisingly effective, even the reserves. Most of the Soviet options also aren't great, since they generally have very limited ammo and perform poorly at bomber altitudes. Avoid Spitfires and most of Japan's fighters, because their poor speed, firepower, and durability mean there are better options for bomber hunting. At lower BRs, try to stick to heavier fighters, preferably single-engine ones with decent armor and very strong firepower, such as P-47s, FW-190s, etc. If you are really just looking for the backups, then I recommend sticking to the first bracket, since that seems to be the easiest to win in on a regular basis, though in Air the top bracket can be a breeze, provided a few toptier jets hard-carry the team. If you are at the bottom of the bracket, it'll be harder for you to pull your own weight, much less make up for any "slackers." Vehicles that are at or near the top of their BR bracket is a good start.
